Buyer Beware

This website is dedicated to sharing my experience with Justin Humphries of Progressive Construction Services (progressive-cs.com)

Needless to say, it was not a good experience. Contractor’s are not required to have a license in Texas and no one overseas their industry, so I consider this a public service.

Stay tuned as this website is a work in progress and I have a massive amount of photos and information.

Where It All Went Wrong

The contractor presented me with a change order invoice for approximately $2500-2800 that you will see on this website. Keep in mind it’s not a signed change order, it is an invoice.

Because I did not agree with that invoice and I wanted the other items that I paid over $90,000 for to be corrected before I addressed a change order invoice, he decided that I was in default of my contract for nonpayment.

These are the cancelled checks showing, not only did I pay for work done but overpaid and my home was damaged as a result of his poor workmanship.

Just one Example

Here is a good example of just how egregious the workmanship is.

The island was attached to the floor crooked by 3/4″ The sink was moved from a bar (1990’s style) to a center island 10’2″ x 5’3″ The new plumbing required going into the foundation and moving the pipe. It was relocated to the wrong place which caused issues with where the island was to be placed, more specifically the sink. The sink used was an off brand & odd size which cannot be replaced. (I had requested the largest sink possible since the island was so big.) The sink he chose to use is a cheap imitation of a stainless steel sink. It looks nasty even after thoroughly cleaning.

There was a drop down draw made with the island that was removed because Justin said the sink was “too big.” (29.5″ x 15.5″ ) The reality is the plumbing is misplaced so it restricts where the sink can be. For me to repair this, I would have to replace the 10’2″ x 5’3″ slab of quartz. This is because the faucet hole is too close to the sink cut out (1.25″) and the quartz cant be cut into any deeper because the plumbing is in the wrong place.

A licensed plumber did not do the job and no permits were pulled. Notice the tape on the clean out. There was supposed to be a loop that vented back out to the roof pipe and the vent is not to be more than 10 ft from the roof pipe location.

In addition to the plumbing issue, the electric was not pulled from the source and the Dishwasher, Garbage Disposal & Microwave in the island were all put on the same circuit. The only way I could use the dishwasher is if the garbage disposal was on. This is not code and no permits were pulled, which means no inspection. A licensed electrician did not do this work.
